John Sisk and Sons Case Study
John Sisk construction is the largest general contracting company in Ireland, with turnover in excess of €500Million. They have offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Sligo and Waterford with construction sites across Ireland.
Kathleen Flynn is the System Administrator for John Sisk who employee over 1000 people. There is a continuous requirement for I.D swipe cards as the number of new on-site employees varies daily. “I issue every new contractor and tradesman with a photo I.D swipe-card, which allows them access to the site from three turnstiles (supplied by Advance Systems) around the perimeter of the site. Prior to the installation of access control, we had one security guard at the front entrance and there was no way of knowing who was on site at any particular time.” Explained Ms Flynn.
Every Monday morning an on-site report is run, this is then sent to the Contracts Manager and one to the Site agent and a copy to the Senior Engineer. Each month reports of hours in total are sent to each contractor, which is then sent to their respective payroll personnel. The same occurs with their staff, a printed time sheet is faxed to payroll, which is calculated from head office.
A daily report each morning, which is sent to their Safety Officer, as real time on-and-off site reporting is crucial from a health & safety perspective. Health & Safety are key elements to the efficient running of site locations in your trade, the syetem can provide accurate information of who’s on site and where, currently in real time or report on past attendances.
Ms Flynn explains further. “It is much easier to calculate the hours worked now as previously I had time sheets which took me much longer to calculate. Once the clockings appear on the system it is easy to work out the hours worked. Every day there are a different amount of people on site to keep track of. Now it is monitored by the system”.
