Employees requesting time off are brought to an Absence Details screen, which enables them to choose the type of absence requested. Absence codes are customised by employee type, ensuring that the employee using the system is only able to choose from a list of allowable absences. The system can be configured to determine if an absence requires manager or supervisor authorisation. If the absence type does not require authorisation and the employee has remaining entitlements, the system will automatically approve the absence and immediately deduct the time from remaining entitlements.

If the absence code indicates supervisor approval is required, an email notification with the request will be sent to the supervisor. The supervisor can approve or deny the request directly through the system, reducing the need for time-consuming, distracting in-person meetings. Once the absence is approved, either automatically or by management, a notification will be sent to the employee with an updated work planner.
